“kiyâm - Let It Be” in “kiyâm”

kiyâm ~ Let It Be

The dictionary tells me

it means “think nothing of it,” and

“let’s go then,”

“so much for this,”

“let there be no further delay,”

and a few other things like that.

I remember my Dad saying,

“kiyâmapik,”

when we wouldn’t settle down

for the night. He’d

come running upstairs

and tell us to “kiyâmapik.”

Which pretty much meant,

“Go to sleep!”

The dictionary also says kiyâm

means “never mind,” and

“let it be,” or

“oh well,”

“it’s okay,” but

I know some people are hurting

too much to let anything be.

“kiyâmapi,” nipêhtawâw awiyak ê-itwêt,

“mah! kêhtê-ayak ê-ayamihâcik.”

“Shhhh,” I hear someone saying,

“Listen. The Elders are praying.”
