Stephen Hsu and Anthony Zee have implied that Type IV Kardashev civilizations might go so far as to transmit messages at cosmic scales by adjusting the parameters for the microwave background during the creation of the universe (perhaps encoding up to 100,000 bits of data in the anisotropic fluctuation of temperatures across this panorama), thereby leaving behind an imprimatur upon the structure of the macrocosm.50 Ruari Mackenzie et al. have observed that the CMB Cold Spot (coincident with the Eridanus Supervoid on the Planck map of the sky) might, in fact, correspond to such a pancosmic signature, because the spot is both so gigantic and so unlikely that no phenomenon in Nature can readily explain its origin, causing Mackenzie et al. to leave open the implication that the void might provide evidence for a parallel universe, entangled with our own.51
