103.

The speculation of music has

An invisible sound, the ear-mind reading

Without play, the dream of a universal

Language moving like wind in chimes

On a porch at the cottage by the lake

The glaciers left where birds sang and muskrat

Rustled in the rushes before Pythagoras

Made harmony a theory. Love appeals

To the senses, agape its own music

Of the spheres. When I hear you in the kitchen

Singing to yourself, alone with the sun

On the table, or feel children playing

Through the floorboards, I recall how small hands

Can express the sound of the gods in love.
