12 Joachim Prinz served for twelve years as rabbi of the Jewish community in Berlin. After arriving in America in 1937, he would go on to become vice-chairman of the World Jewish Congress, a member of the World Zionist Organization, and a leader in the civil rights march on Washington in 1963 (Fowler, “Joachim Prinz, Leader in Protests For Civil-Rights Causes, Dies at 86”).
