“Acknowledgements” in “Musing”
Acknowledgements
As I have given detailed thanks in earlier books, I will keep these acknowledgements brief. There are many people over many years and in many places to whom I owe gratitude. To those who have encouraged my poetry — poets, friends, editors, teachers, translators, and readers — and to the poets who went before, my thanks.
At Athabasca University Press, my thanks to Manijeh Mannani, series editor, and to Walter Hildebrandt, director, Pamela MacFarland Holway, senior editor, and Natalie Olsen, designer. My thanks also to the two anonymous readers.
Musing was written in Europe and North America and was completed in France in the summer of 2001. I wish to thank colleagues at Princeton University, the University of Cambridge, the University of Alberta, and the Camargo Foundation, in Cassis (my thanks also to the director and to the foundation itself). To Deborah Elder, my gratitude for the use of her beautiful print for the cover. To my translators, Maria Athanasopoulou (Greek), Wladimir Krysinski (Polish), Nicole Mallet (French), Jüri Talvet (Estonian), and Nadezda Vashkevich (Russian), my thanks.
To Gordon Teskey, my gratitude for his generous introduction.
To friends and family, many thanks once more — George Edward Hart, my father; Charles, Gwendolyn, Deborah, Alan, and Jennifer, my brothers and sisters; Mary Marshall, and our children, Julia and James.
I dedicate this book most particularly to George and Mary.
