These hedges teem. The blood

on the ground still stains

The grass without remains.

The bees suck the purple clover

At dusk. The mist is scarred

in the dream of night. The king’s

Fictions persist.

Children

Play in the hedges, and lovers

dwell in their bowers, borders

That are and are not

in life and in art.
